Halloween gone for another year
November 7th, 2011The Patricia Hotel has once again taken down the Halloween decorations that have adorned our lobby and entertained the neighbourhood children these past few weeks. With only 48 shopping days remaining before Christmas, the realistic skeleton that has been hanging in the window will soon be replaced by an equally impressive Santa Claus who will stand in the window and keep a watchful eye on all who visit.

Hockey Town or Soccer City?!
March 23rd, 2011As the Vancouver Canucks quickly approach the playoffs, leading their Division, Conference as well as the League, many are wondering if this is their year to go all the way! While Vancouverites are proud of our league-leading Canucks, we also have a new sport and team to set our sights upon with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
This past weekend, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC debuted in Major League Soccer with a 4 - 2 win against Canadian rivals the Toronto FC. Although the day began with an ominous tone set by typical Vancouver showers, the clouds parted in the early afternoon as a sold out crowd of 22, 592 dressed all in white cheered their team to victory at Empire Field. We hope that this is only the beginning of good things to come for our Whitecaps as Vancouver definitely has room for both the National Hockey League and Major League Soccer.
Next Game for the Whitecaps: March 26, 2011 vs Philadelphia Union
Next Home Game: April 2, 2011 vs Sporting Kansas City
Green Key Announcement !
January 27th, 2011Patricia Hotel is now a Green Key Rated property!
In 1914 when the hotel was built, green was only a colour. 97 years later, green is more than a colour, it is the way of the future! The Patricia Hotel is proud to announce that we are now a member of the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, with a Green Key rating of 3. The Green Key Eco-Rating program is a rating system that recognizes hotels, motels and resorts for their efforts to improve their environmental awareness and performance. A hotel with a Green Key rating of 3 has taken significant steps to protect the environment. Strong environmental management practices, training programs, and engineering solutions have been implemented which have benefited the environment and the local community.
In keeping with our 3 Key rating, the Patricia Hotel has worked hard to reduce its environmental footprint. In addition to actively requesting guest participation in our efforts through day to day towel and linen re-use, the hotel engages in environmentally friendly practices including but not limited to, actively sorting recyclables from waste, replacing low energy light bulbs and appliances with higher efficiency alternatives, purchasing from environmentally considerate suppliers wherever possible and using recycled, biodegradable/vegetable based and non-toxic product options when available.
Moving forward into the future, the Patricia Hotel will strive to increase our Green Key Rating though continually improving our current practices and implementing new, green initiatives. We will keep you posted on our progress!
